The Laws of Thermodynamics
February 5, 2015 - February 15, 2015$17
Three days before the end of the world, a journalist searches for his family as his car breaks down outside the town of Crumb, population: 3. A darkly funny and spirited look at human behaviour in the face of imminent death, The Laws of Thermodynamics is a pre-apocalyptic gas-station gothic of loss, obsession, and what it means to really say “The End”.
Theatre Yes, the company that brought Edmonton the National Elevator Project is pleased to offer yet another out-of-bounds adventure in mainstage theatre featuring one of Edmonton’s hottest playwrights. Cat Walsh is an award-winning Edmonton playwright whose work includes Fetch, Potluck, and eleven-oh-four. Developed by Theatre Yes, Workshop West, and the Banff Playwrights Colony, The Laws of Thermodynamics marks Walsh’s first mainstage production at a professional theatre.
The Laws of Thermodynamics stars Julien Arnold, James Hamilton, Cody Porter and Melissa Thingelstad. Set and Lighting Design by Nick Blais, Costume Design by Brian Bast, Sound Design by Paul Morgan Donald, and Stage Managed by Kerry Johnson. The Laws of Thermodynamics is directed by Theatre Yes Artistic Director Heather Inglis, winner of the 2014 Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Emerging Artists Awards.
