The 45th National Music Festival

The 45th National Music Festival takes place in Edmonton from August 13-15, 2015 at the Alberta College Campus of MacEwan University & McDougall United Church with the Grand Award Concert taking place the Francis Winspear Centre for Music on Saturday, August 15, 2015.
From coast to coast, 57 youth ranging in age from 12 to 28 years, are meeting in the dynamic city of Edmonton, Alberta to compete in the prestigious 45th National Music Festival. The National Music Festival is a competition for the top amateur musicians in the country.
To compete at the National Music Festival, the musicians had to first perform and receive a first-place standing in one of Canada’s 233 local music festivals, and then perform and be recommended to Nationals from their Provincial Music Festival. They will compete for cash awards in nine different categories: voice, piano, strings, classical guitar, woodwinds, brass, percussion, chamber groups, and musical theatre.
The top three performers in each category will be selected by the Festival’s nationally and internationally acclaimed adjudicators. The first place winners of each category will compete for the Grand Award Winner title and prize of $5,000 at the Grand Award Concert on Saturday, August 15 at 7:30pm at the Francis Winspear Centre for Music.

Daily Passes for the National Music Festival are $10 and can be purchased on-site. Programmes are $5 and can also be purchased on-site. Master Classes are FREE to attend. Tickets for the Grand Award Concert are $25 and can be purchased at the door the evening of the event, or in advance during the Festival in Room 101, Alberta College Campus, MacEwan University.
