2015 Reel Shorts Film Festival

The 9th Reel Shorts Film Festival takes place May 5-10 in Grande Prairie, Alberta. As a production of Grande Prairie Live Theatre, it has been celebrating short films and filmmakers since 2007, growing from a 3-day festival into the largest presenter of short films in the Prairie Provinces with 100+ short films screening each year. Over 2,900 attendees came from the Peace Region and beyond to enjoy the festival in 2014 including 1,300 children and youth who benefitted from one of the largest school programs in the country. The festival is a qualifying festival for the ACCT (Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television), one of four in Alberta and 39 film festivals across the country to be recognized as such. The festival received 3,770 submissions from 108 countries to be considered for the 2015 program.
The jury members have been announced for the 2015 festival. In addition to determining the winners of the Best Live Action Short, Best Animated Short, Best Documentary Short, and Best Peace Region Short, they will participate on a Filmmaker Insights Panel on Sat, May 9. They are:
· Josh Miller, an award-winning writer/producer and President of Panacea Entertainment, an independent film and TV production company in Edmonton, Alberta
· Brian Morey, Head of Development for feature film and television at Copperheart Entertainment in Toronto, Ontario
· Cody Blue Snider, an acclaimed music video director and award-winning filmmaker who is preparing to make his feature-length adaptation of FOOL’S DAY which won the Audience Choice Award at the 2014 Reel Shorts Film Festival
